Opinions of the JBJ 28g Nano Cube HQI

I have the JBJ 12 gallon DX and really like it. Thinking of upgrading to the 28gallon with HQI lighting so I can keep more variety of corals.
Any one have one they could give their opinions of it? Any other all in one I should be looking at that is similiar in light output?

I ordered this setup from www.marinedepot.com (Comes with the free stand).

I have been debating between this tank, Finnex brands, Cadlights and the Red Sea Max.

I went with this tank for the lighting, dual return pumps on wavemakers, enclosed top but open back chambers, center overflow with filter chamber, etc...

How is the water temperature on the setup? IS a chiller needed?

Current-USA Solana 34Gal w/MH lighting is a very nice tank.

I have one and love it. Its very easy to work with. I have a little bit of a problem with reaching down into the back chambers but thats what my kids are for. My tank does run hot but mounting a PC fan on the back and that problem is gone. The only thing that I dont like about it is that in order to open the lid you have to remove the skimmer cup. So I have installed an Aquac Remora and that problem is now gone. I have created a fuge in the back center chamber by removing the media basket and just made a light.

Now the only thing that I have to get used to is that I have to watch what I put in the tank. I used to have a 120 gallon tank and was forced to downsize into this and i am kinda limited on what fish I can keep in this thing.

The tank has changed a little bit. I have rearranged the rock and also installed a Phosban reactor and the Remora on the back.

All in all I am very happy with the tank.

I love mine, i have had it about 5 months. The temps aren't a concern, JBJ did a great job.
I put a Coralife skimmer 65 on mine yesterday, still trying to brake it in and work the kinks out. So far so good.

I love mine. I have had mine for about 5 months now and have some very nice LPS that has grown including my pulsing xenia that in 2-3 months has split six times already. You'll love it, it really is a complete set up out of the box.

I've had my tank up since november. It's a fantastic tank. I did have some heat issues. However, that was solved with my controller and Azoo fan I hooked up on the back.

I upgraded the pumps to MJ1200's, took them off of the wavemaker, and also put in a koralia nano pump. Now the flow is good for my SPS!

The lighting is fantastic. I used to have a 150W sunpod. The lighting in this tank is much brighter. Not sure if it's b/c the ballast, reflector, simply the bulb's closer to the tank.

Agree with some of the negatives mentioned above. Opening the tank can be an annoyance. But, you get used to it.

I might install a phosban reactor and upgrade the skimmer later. But, for now, the skimmer's fine.

Ive found without the lights on... I can maintain the temp at whatever the heater is set at but if I left the lights on for an 8 hour period... the temps have gotten as high as 86 degrees. I have heard a few people put an Azoo fan (PC type fan) in the back to cool it down but I decided to purchase a Nano chiller to keep the temps down for better stability.

Aaronpentz... What do you think of the AquaC Remora skimmer on the back? Is it worth the addition expense? It looks like, from the pic, that you still have the stock skimmer and the aquac remora back there?

You mention that you replaced the stock pumps with MJ1200's. Are you able to put the pumps in the same place as the stock pumps or are you putting the MJ1200s in the display? I am asking bc I was checking the dimensions and I thought only the Rio6hf was able to fit back there versus the MJ1200s?

I just started setting up mine over the weekend. MJ1200's fit fine. They are actually smaller than the original pumps.

Just bought the same package, but I can't set it out yet, as I'm planning to move house in a couple of months.

What heater are people using in these?

Also I presume people use 2 timers one for the leds, and another for the HDI main. I think I saw a power strip with build in timers, which I might buy.

I went ahead a purchased one of these and I am really impressd with it. I put the water in it earlier this week, actually transfering everything from a JBJ 12DX and 100 gallon reef I have had for a few years. Light is awesome, skimmer seems good also. Biggest problem was putting the stand together, what a pain and the directions were real bad.
