usually when you first get them, they have trouble extending their polyps all the way out and it seems like it takes forever....do the following once a day for a week or so - grab a 5g bucket....transfer about 1.5-2g of water out of your tank into the bucket (with this process you are doing a mini waterchange)....put the sun coral(s) in the bucket with the tank water.....put a small powerhead in the bucket......throw in a good chunk of mysis shrimp, cyclopeeze (frozen works best), and even mix in some things like kent micro vert...turn the powerhead on and leave the sun coral in there for 10mins.....if you do that for a week straight you should see complete polyp extension....now take off the 'training wheels' and just feed your tank cyclopeeze....polyps should practically jump out....and then you can spot feed mysis with a turkey baster
if taking the coral out isnt a hassle, i would continue to feed it this way consistenly...maybe every few days.....its a pain but it really does keep them healthy

Some bad news..I might be losing my black polyps...just after I got them to eat too Ive noticed white "vien" like lines on them, it may be runners from my algae but I dont think so. Im guessing its tissue dying off.

If it's tissue dying off then they need to eat more. That will fill in and go away the more they eat. I'm sure they are getting pretty hungry about now. Nothing to worry about. Just feed them well every day for a while and the white lines should start to disipate.

Sun corals are very hardy, keep feeding and they will grow back.

Feeding pics:

Weapon of choice for smaller polyps, especially the black ones:

Looks cloudy because-

a) Mysis juice clouds up the water

b) Poor lighting

c) Glass wasnt cleaned for pics

d) Camera sucks.

Choose one of the the above

All those white specks on the black polyps will be gone in 10 mins, then I will do the final round of feeding, followed by a water change.

I have one black polyp that is basically a huge ball...I think he is almost ready to extend...is it ok if I feed him a ton of mysis? Like Ive fed him around 10 tonight because he keeps gobblin them down so fast.

Nope, I feed every polyp one at a time. The larger heads are easier, so they get around 5 mysis per feeding.

Keep feeding but they will spit out what they don't need after about 30-60 minutes or so.

So how do you think they look? Any tips Freed? Like I said, some of the black ones are starting to get larger, I think they are preparing to extend. Hopefully sometime in the next couple weeks I can get them all to extend, if only a little. It will help with the feeding quite a bit.

They look fine and yes they do look like they are ready to explode their polyps out in a few days even. They just need to get their energy back so they can extend them is all.
