am I breeding snails?

I always seem to see new snails in my tank. I just saw one about the size of a tic tac on my rock. It is shaped like a turbo snail. I also see small ones with black and yellow shells. Where are these coming from and are they good or bad?

They're likely hitchhikers, although some snails can reproduce in our tanks. Need picture....

I'm still working on getting that picture. Tomorrow. All I can say now is that I just saw 5 and they are about the size of the tip of a ball point pen. They are tan and white patterned. They still have a shell shaped like a turbo snail.

sounds like a Collonista snail. these guys will multiply in our systems, one of the few snails that will. they are harmless little algae grazers, and dont get bigger than 1/4" in dia..

if they are collonista snails, then know nothing to worry about. in fact they are great to have. you should be able to find a pic for reference on google.

That's exactly what they are thank you! Have you seen black and yellow snails? Mine are about an 1/8th of an inch long.
