DSL, do I want 1.5 or 3.0?

OK, I am ready to dump the dial up at home I have not really had a problem, as I use the high speed at work.

I do not download large music or video files, just basic surfing at home.

Is it worth the extra $10 or so per month to have 3.0 vs 1.5 ??

Anyone have Embarq (the old Sprint)?

P.S. I'm cheap when it comes to recurring monthy fees

It's all relative.

If you're used to dialup then 1.5 is probably fine. My connection at work is 6mb and my connection at home is 10mb so I'd probably open a vein if I was forced to live with 3mb.

Is there something I can click on here at work to find out how fast my work Lan is operating at? That might give me something to judge by.

If you're just surfing with it, 1.5mbps is probably fine for you. I've got Embarq's 3.0 and love it, but I game on it alot with my Xbox360.

1.249 kbps upload

434 kbps down

I don't get it? What does that convert to?

It means that you'd be happy with 1.5

It makes no sense to me. The closer servers Atlanta and St Johns were slower downloads than LA which was 1.2 MBS??

It all depends on the "plumbing"; who's backbone your provider is attached to.....etc.
