December '07 Tank Pics

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years everyone . November and December have been sort of bad months for the tank. I've lost a few frags to rtn and its very frustrating, yet others continue to grow just fine. rotated my bulbs back to reeflux 12k's and brought a 20g refugium add-on online.

enjoy.

I was trying to wait until you finished to commend you this month. I know it has not been easy and when I saw the chester all cut up, I was saddened for you. Like you have always told me, "if its not one thing with these reefs, its another"

Any pics of the new sump/refugium/one day to be a frag tank?

That is one nice chaeto farm

I was thinking, Are you going to throw some sand in that? Even in the future, you can still do your other idea, just on a 4-5 in sand bed. It might help "soften" some things.

Looks good Tim. Sorry to hear of the problems you've been having. Nice fuge, but what was in that space before? I don't seem to remember any room to spare under your tank. Did something else go away?

Splendid! Tim, do you go bare bottom? I could have swore you had a sand bed - although you had mentioned some of it was hardening.

He pulled all the sand a couple months back. I remember a post discussing the weekend long endeavor.

Yeah, I thought he mentioned that you helped him Mark. Just to further your dreaded memory of I believe Tim described, a 30 hour tear down and rebuild, during which he systematically trashed corals that he just didn't want to deal with placing again!!!
I can't complain though, as I was the lucky recipient of a rather enormous "frag" of Cali Tort for a pittance that was just wedged in the rockwork until he found a permanent home for it.
Tim, next time just remember that most of us will work for nothing more than those unfortunate frags that don't seem to fit in anywhere

thanks for the props everyone .

marko9, putting sand in that fuge is a possibility .

KMP, the water from the fuge makes a slight, pleasant noise. its barely noticeable when the doors are on.

jtarmitage, my CA reactor was taking up that space. i crammed it into the other side of the tank . since it doesn't get as much ambient light from the fuge, it shouldn't grow coralline .

MrMikeB, yep...that dang sand was turning to solid brick in some spots and just had to be yanked!

bkmorris, gotta love them chalices that just take up space at the bottom
