I need everyone's opinion on my lighting setup

I'm running a Dual Galaxy Ballast with 2 250 watt DE phoenix bulbs and 2 T10 actinic.

My question is this too much for a softy dominated tank I will never try sps cause I like softies. I went with metal halide cause I wanted to keep clams. But I'm over clams and want my corals to look better. I was wondering if I could go to an all T10 or T5 setup would it be better for my corals. the other day i moved a hammer coral higer up in the tank and pretty much shriveled up. I'm assuming because of too much light.

Thanks

How deep is your tank? I don't think you have too much light.

That is not to much light. But if you are not into SPS then you are wasting electricity. I have seen T5 setups that blow halides out of the water light wise and look wise.

That lighting setup is perfect for sps. I don't know what it would do to your softies, but my 400w SE Radium bulbs bleach out all of my softies. I had to hide my yumas & zoas in the shade because of it. But just my opinion I'd think 150w DE with your T5's would be more than sufficient for softies & clams w/ lower electricity bill & still maintain that MH brilliant look. But you could always go sps cause there's nothing quite like them.
