Do you mean Xanthichthys mento? If so, that should be okay, if the other fish are fairly large.

I agree with Burtoni, in that members of that genus are generally more passive (*often described as "mellow" than other triggers).

Personally, though, I wouldn't do it. I like to watch triggers, tangs and large angels cruise the reef in bigger tanks with much larger footprints as opposed to just pacing. I'm not exactly the Tang Police, as a 90 will do just find for a juvenile specimen to a small adult, but I just find a personal aesthetic to their behavior lacking in a 90.

As always, add the trigger last, as even the members of Xanthichthys will get a bit testy with new tank mates, especially if you tempt them with smaller, passive fish.

I think you're already overstocked. I wouldn't add any more fish. Give those fish room to grow.

I'm sorry Baldomero... But didn't you just post having problems with the fish you already have???

Do you think you should figure out what going on, before you add more fish to a already overstocked system....

That's a freshwater rule. There is no such rule for salt water aquaria.

The puffer will thin out the tank in no time. The chromis and damsel will become food. Before you say the puffer isn't big enough, my porc grew 3x as fast as my other fish, and ate my clowns that I thought were too big.

Whoa.... I'm not a rich guy from Oregon. Heck I gots me um reef tank, no money left... You asked the question I gave you my answer, no more, no less...

I was kinda linking this to your other post about sick fish. You gave no water params, filtration, or any background about your tank. The only information was 10 or so fish already. Now your asking about adding more.. Don't get all hot under the collar.

I gave you my opinion, no more, no less...

Happy Reefing

You are already overstocked. If you upgrade to a bigger tank, then you can start thinking about adding a trigger. How much live rock do you have? What kind of protein skimmer do you have? These will all influence how much bioload your system can handle.

Baldomero, why do you bother posting? since you know it all. Your over stocked, that's a fact. Sorry, if you can't understand or accept that. I would not put a trigger in a 90, 18in with rock is not enough room.

Hey guys does the invertebrates like shrimps, crabs, hermits count like fishes when we talk about overstocking the tank? cause just have 2 fishes and 7 shrimps,2 emerald crabs,6 scarlet hermist,2 turbos. And i have a couple of fish more in my list to add.
