I used to enjoy working holidays when I was single and/or it was with my wife. But now that I have children, it's a bummer. But MAN was it a blast to work in a grocery store on Thanksgiving Day!

Sorry Travis...not me. Not here anyway. Probably be working at home. No plans for the 4th, so I'll probably start cutting up the old deck I took down last year to slowly put it out with the trash over the next couple months (don't want to pay the extra $$$ for a special pick-up).

I do remember working as a Detailer for Frito-Lay many years ago and having to work on the 4th. That was awful. Couldn't keep product stocked on the shelves fast enough...people were takign it from the boxes before I could stock it. Hated every minute of it.

Well, Travis, you are not alone! I have to work tomorrow.

I don't have kids, but I have family here until Thursday.

We are closed on Wednesday's, so I will be taking the family over to Mexico to do some shopping. Oh, joy! (the family consists of 2 adults, 3 kids and a boyfriend).

I'll be working. All day and well into the night. Just like today, and yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that....I have to work on Christmas and my birthday too. And I often get called in in the middle of the night. I occasionally get time off on weekends, but i work most of those too.......

Work?

Dan usually works, but is getting the day off. We're going for a ride up in the mountains. We usually get a great fireworks show.

Just got home, will be off at 8 am though. (1 hour and 8 minutes, not that I'm counting!) I got called in for a bloodhound with bloat at 2:30 am--4 hours later, back home again. That has to be my most dreaded of emergencies, they so rarely end well. This dog is a search and rescue dog. Last year, he ate some rocks and I had to fix that problem too. I told him NO MORE!

I hate to go to sleep until I'm off duty now though. If I go to sleep now, I don't think I'd hear the pager! *yawn* At least I don't have to go back to work until Thursday.

Happy 4th!

The happiest bloat I'd ever seen! He came bopping into the office, tail wagging, dragging his owner happily inside but his belly was like a drum. I told his owner after surgery that everything went as well as I could have asked, it helps when the owners know the signs as soon as they see them. The cues he gave here were pretty vague: woke them up with his whimpering and was "just standing there" looking uncomfortable and drooling. He had started the dry heaves on the way in.
