gseschen -dendros are far bigger than sun corals. I have sun corals and they don't get too big even after feeding them. Dendros on the other hand are huge. I'd say, my biggest dendros width size is equal to like 4-5 suncorals stacked side by side. Dendros are also taller, I have a few if you include the tentacles are like 3-4 inches tall or long.
Some of my dendros after eating or if they bloat up are like the diameter of a half dollar or maybe even a large silver dollar like the Eisenhower dollars so thats pretty big.

Besides the huge size difference, dendros also open up all day. So if you turn your halides on, the dendros stay open. They really don't close up and hide like sun corals do. Sun corals usually close up during the day and when the lights are off come out. You can train sun corals to open up during the day but they really don't open up fully like they do at night in my experience.

Thanks
Mike

Not sure what these are, but Viper and acerr will be getting a piece to help me id it. Definately not a micro balano or a arbuscula. Maybe tubastrea.

White dendro I recently got:

Acerr, don't you have one? Do you find that it can't catch any food? I have to turn off all the pumps and put food right by its mouth. If I don't do that, it will starve because the coral can't catch food at all.

Also got this balanophyllia too!!

RobynT, thank you!

Did you get your dendro polyp yet? If so, how is it doing for you and do you have pictures of it? Remember to feed it!

qckwzrd -thanks! About time for me to limelight a bit and show you that the master will overtake the apprentice

I'm sure your gonna come up with some crazy stuff soon!

thecichlip -nice dendros, very pretty. What do you feed it and how often?

The balano is the same requirement as the dendro, non photosynthetic. Its suppose to get bigger than a dendro coccinea.

So in the hierarchy of size, it would be:

rhizo>balano>dendro

That would depend on the species of each.

mysis, cyclops, or squid every two to three days. I have yet to see any babies and a friend whose biggest is the size of my smallest has put out 3-4 babies and he only feeds a couple of mysis a week. I have fed about a 1/3 of a silverside before, so they can eat, but I have yet to see any real indications of babies.

Mikekman, where did you get your balano from?

You really do not need to feed daily or ever other day. I feed mine when I have time. Sometimes I would feed 3 days straight then take 3-4 days off. I have seen my 4 large polyp dendros grow 10 smaller heads in the last month doing this.

I feed mine about 3 times a week maybe more. Because I have a few suncorals in the tank so I feed alot. Just about all my Dendros have babies. Except the ones I go from Roes, but they are growing nicely and looking good. My First Dendro has 3/4 babies and my second one has one full baby and two more coming.
