Question Is this a watermelon?

Is this a golden eye or watermelon? Or does it not even have a name? It is pretty cool looking none the less.

Thanks

It looks different than the Watermellons I've seen. Either way it's an amazing piece.

Mine is similiar, I bought it at MACNA houston this year he had several available, mine is kind of cool, it has a red with green centers on one half and a blue with green eyes on the other, a man made combo frag rock. very slow growing for me, but very cool looking corals I think. A good way to get cool stuff like this is go to a macna show, I paid $60 for it and hauled it back on the plane with me for free.

sportsguy247, that is very nice. I would say it is not the original watermelon via Hugo, that one is very pink. Yours looks much deeper, even deeper than the aquascene golden eye, almost a burgandy body with a navy blue background. Just beautiful none the less.

I bought one just like yours at MACNA. One of each color just not on the same frag rock. Mine are both doing well and growing fast.

I forget who, but someone had one very similar to the first picture that he (or she) was calling 'Monster Mash' echino. It was definitely different than the original Watermelon, Golden Eye, or Tub's Alien Eye. Very nice.

SPStoner threw up a shot on an old watermelon thread from last year that looks an awful lot like this echino. He said it was the same echino as the first pic in his post just kept in low light. I tried to find a shot of the monster mash but all pics were x'd out. I remember trying to contact the guy about that echino and never got a response.

Slojmn,
Yep I know who you are talking about. His name here on RC was "Chin Monster".I haven't scene him around on RC in a VERY long time. Most of the frags were sold local.Pretty sure he is from San Diego,Ca.At that time they were 125 bucks per frag.Yea that's cheap now days, before all these Chalice corals became a hot coral. But like I said here he hasn't been around in a long time.Might not even be in the hobby anymore?
