Metal Halide Lighting Question

My current 4 watts/gallon of light is torture to the hitchhiker star polyps and shrooms that came on my LR months ago when I started my 10 Gal. They have all grown...just not very well. Ive been considering a lighting upgrade to the tone of a MH pendant.

Is the 150 watt pendant too much light for a 10 gal? (15w/gal)
Should I really be including Atinics in my reef as well & not just a MH?

happy trails,
TIA

A 150de would be fine as long as you can keep any heat issues at bay IMO. If you got a 14k bulb you probably would not need any supplemental lighting.

4watts per gallon should be plenty for shrooms and star polyps as they do not require much light. I think you should be looking at your water quality.
