cutting back a BIG mushroom?
I have a couple of LARGE hairy mushrooms(one is about 12" in diameter) and I need to get one out of the area it's in because its stinging and killing a calaustrea. Unfortunatly it's foot is not on a nice flat piece of rock so I'm not sure how to get it out of there. I know this sounds stupid, but can i trim around the edge or just cut it off at the foot with a blade? I'd rather not kill it if I don't have to.
There is a picture of one of them in my gallery to give you an idea of the size of these things. |

you can't kill them, cut it off and the foot will regrow, if you can get the rock out you can just chisel it into and move the mushroom.

Thanks. Thats what I wanted to hear. They are really beautiful mushrooms. They have a nice flourescent green to them. They just grow HUGE.

If you cut it, I would maybe keep it in a small tank till it starts to heal over. We had some 8" and cut one once. the thing slimed everywhere. I was glad I has a separate tank to put it in. Ours made quit a mess.

some bridal veil will help keep it down on what you want it to attach to.
