Carpet keeps acting weird.

I have a carpet that refuses to stay in place. He moved to the back of the tank months ago and has stayed there. I haven't been able to feed him that well, but the clowns seem to keep him well fed. He climbed to the top of the tank, which he hasn't done in about 3 months. I gave him some food and me climbed back to his spot in the back of the tank. I can't figure this thing out for the life of me.

I've thought of that, but it will stay in place for months, then move. There are high flow and low flow spots, also high light and low light spots. I think the next time he comes to the top of the tank will be his last. The only reason it is still in there is to keep my clowns from hosting my Goniapora.
