thread titles interpreted. ;) [tongue very firmly in cheek]

1. Thread title...."how many fish can I put in my tank?" Translation: I have just bought 4 tangs for my 20 g, to join my percs, my 3 damsels, and my undulate trigger.
2. Thread title... "nitrates!!!!" Translation: Cannister filter!
3. Thread title..."I can't find my wrasse." Translation: I didn't research this fish.
4. Thread title..."I can't find my firefish." Translation: I don't have a jump prevention system in place.
5. Thread title..."hair algae!!!!" Translation: "Phosphates!@@@" or: "I've been using tap water..."
6. Thread title..."could this be ich?" Translation: "I put my first fish straight into the tank with no qt...."
7. Thread title..."Do I need a ro/di?" Translation: "Things are looking pretty grim in my tank."

...with due apologies to the reefer who: hasn't bought his fish yet and is asking in advance; has a different nitrate source; had a bizarre calamity with a new fish; has one of those mysterious algae events; did qt his fish; and has been using bought-ro/di water faithfully from setup on....you guys are ok.

10. Will a tang be okay in my __g? Translation - I've already bought the fish, and dumped it straight into the display

11. Is there a reef-safe cure for ich? Translation - I didn't quarantine, my fish have ich, and I'm looking for an easy way out so I don't have to catch them and treat in a QT

thread title: new hobbyists beware- there is no excuse for your ignorance

A little harsh don't you think? And not to throw the thread off track but RO/DI water has the smallest impact on algae among all the variables that cause algae and doesn't even come close to ensuring that you won't have algae problems.

And as for all the other unfair/hasty generalizations I don't have the time

But face it - this is a place for new members to get information and for seasoned members to share it. You have to expect to see the same topics come up week after week. I may not have personally started many of them but I certainly searched for them

So I got to pay to get the search feature?????

Seems like those advertisments at the top should do all the paying....HE HE

Last but not least, why havent the mods made the "Reef Discussion" forum not for newby questions? Move newbs post over to the "New to the Hobby" forum. Post a sticky maybe? At least then this thread wouldnt have been started.

The servers are constantly being upgraded but the number of people is unbelievable. So as the bandwidth becomes depleted, the search engine priority to premium members only is the way to decrease it.

I am just blabbing like all the others are doing...please dont flame me....just expressing my opinion. BUT the search feature does ruffle my feathers! It just seems like if the search feature was available more, then you would have less newb threads, maybe not "no" newb threads but at least less...?

i agree, a working search function would help eliminate some some of the repeat posts.
