gorgonian in sand?

I was wondering if it will be alright to keep my gorgonian, with its base buried a little in the sand, rather than glued onto a rock?

It would be much better for your gorg if it were attached to some sort of substrate rather than stcu directly into the sand. You could glue it a rock and then bury the rock in the sand leaving only the tissue of the gorg exposed. If the base is covered it may cause the tissue to recede. HTH

Hi,

I have had a sea fan stuck in the substrate but attached to a rock for about 1 year now. The sea fan is doing great and growing. I have a very small amount of the fan base buried in the sand. What type of gorgonian is it?

It's a yellow gorgonia. Thanks for the replies, I think I will attach it too a small rock and then burrow part of the rock in the sand.
