skimmer suggestions

I have a 90 gal reef and thinking about getting a 120 or possibly a 150. I am looking for a new skimmer. Any suggestions? i am debating between an ASM or Aqua C. Other suggestions?

A friend of mine told me that her and her husband went through many skimmers before they found one that worked really well......it was an Aqua C.....

hang-on, in-sump, or external feed? Does electricity usage matter? price range?

I love my DAS the only other skimmer i would get would be a bigger DAS. Check out the DAS EX-2. It's a deltec without the heavy price tag or the deltec logo.

if price is a problem i would def check out the DAS it is like stated already an exact replica of Deltec, just cheaper material is all I would def consider going with either a recirc skimmer or a becket! becket will outskim the venturi any day but! you need a loud and power pump to power the becket! its the only downside, if you need quiet def get yourself a DAS if money is an issue or just go with an AP600 from deltec better yet APF600 good luck

ETSS has my vote. Great air exchange. I am running a 900 on one system and a reefdevil on another.

On a 120, a 600 with a mak 4 would work great.

DAS has "cheaper material" but same exact pumps in the lower models. ie the deltec APF600 compared to the DAS EX-1. same exact pumps, slightly different dimensions and lower grade acrylic. But one thing i will say is my DAS is pulling out more sludge than your Deltec... sorry i had to rub it in

If you are looking for a Hang on back, I say Deltec MCE 600. It is not cheap but you get what you pay for.. If you have the $$ for this get it. If you dont then get the DAS.

Im just kidding with you!
Anyway, I dont have a basis of comparison between the Deltec and the DAS because i never used a deltec. But i can promise my DAS works more than great for the price i payed for it. The only complaint i have about the DAS is that there isnt very much info anywhere about them. They don't even mention the skimmers on the DAS website (which is also a little tricky to find) If you are seriously thinking of going the DAS route check out the DAS club in the lighting filtration and other equipment forum on here. People there will give you much more info...

It is a CS 135. It is from a fellow reefcentral person who I trust completely. I am just curious about getting the right one.

Thumbs up Super Skimmer for sure!

E.T.S.S. is what i use. It must be doing something correct???? Atlantis Aquarium uses one on a 20,000gallon reef not to mention how many other E.T.S.S skimmers i counted on all there other tanks.

I have a 60 gal pred tank w. a volitan, dogface puffer, clown and 2 damsels. I have a Prizm delux but am not overly pleased-bubbles and noisy. I have had it for a while and it does do the job but am considering an upgrade. I do need a hang on....That Pet Place is having a sale and I can get a Berlin hang on -23"-w. pump for $ 160.00. Any opinions?? When I was in sales in this industry, I used to be of the opinion that Berlin's were overpriced for their performance. If not the Berlin, any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Craig.

I'd say the DAS EX-2. Awesome needlewheel recirculating skimmer!

I've been in this for many years (before protein skimmers were around). I've gone thru many skimmers (aqua c, pm, deltec, MRC and others) On my big reef I use the MRC-3 with twin becketts but it's a pia because I need to costantly adjust to optimize. IMO you cannot beat the Deltec MCE 600. Real little power horse that almost never needs adjustment. I run them on all my seahorse tanks - very heavy bioload
