Fair price for Tubs Blue frag?

I am considering purchasing a frag of Tub's Blues from a local reefer. What is a fair and reasonable price per polyp for a frag?

Thanks,

$20/polyp sounds about right. I wouldn't sell mine for less but that's because I don't want to sell l them.

Strange, I though the price on tubs blue has dropped. The most I've seen them go for is 10/polyp from a retailer to 5.00/polyp from fellow reefers.

I have never met Tubs or Crockett for that matter. Are you sure they are coming from the original MV crew???
Tubs was never a favorite of mine and Sonny drove?? What is up with that?????? I dislike the naming of polyps. Has tubs been seen since "Merry Go Round" went out of business??

All I know is, I have really bright, really pretty blue zoanthids that I didn't want to frag & someone talked me into it. I won't frag them again--they're not happy about it. I saved a single polyp from that fragging & I'm giving it to Madadi, for all his help. He was here until almost 2am tonight switching T5 bulbs out for better colors. Now, that's a fellow reefer!

Corals are worth what someone is willing to pay for them. Like I said, I really didn't want to frag my blues but I also wanted to share them with the guy, so that is the price I thought it was worth to cut up the colony. I would have (& have) paid that much for one, if I wanted it badly enough. Heck, I paid $60 for a polyp that blew away a week later & $30 for many I don't have anymore.

geez I bought, what was listed as a 10 polyp frag for 25 bucks. When I recieved the frag there were 13 polyps on it. Was from a local reefer in my area, still guess I got a great deal.

I thought Philip Michael Thomas went out with the end of Oak Tree.

If he is still around and wearing the blue jacket with the sleve rolled up-then that would be awesome.
Honda you are too funny!
Why has Crocket not named a polyp? They are 80's at the best are they not?

$20 is a rip off and I believe $10 is a rip off now, I hate when I see these people with huge colonies and they still try selling them $10 per polyp. $5-8 per polyp sounds about right.

i agree with puffer punk. a coral is worth what you wantto pay for it. if someone wants $20 a polyp and you think thats too much. well than that coral isnt worth $20 to you and you continue your search. several times i have paid more for a coral because i wanted it and someone local had it. sure i could of had one shipped or traveled somewhere to get it cheaper but it was worth it to me to pay a liitle more to get from a local reefer.

Eponyms are very common.

Tub's are named after the person who first introduced the morph to the hobby.

"Tub's are named after the person who first introduced the morph to the hobby"

I'm sorry my friend, but this is absolutely not a true statement. The oceans of the world are as vast as the world in which we live and all of the reefers who might have the same polyp, but never named it. To think that one person who has their name attached to a polyp was the first to share that polyp is simply not true. It only means that the person who has attached their name was the first person to attach their name to that particular polyp and did so on-line, nothing more. Think of the hundreds or thousands of people who have zoas and are not on RC or any of the other reefing sights. It is not impossible to believe that someone else had the same specific polyp but simply never named it, shared it online or to the public?

Well put Mooch.
I have been off the forum for a couple of years and all of a sudden polyps that I had a while ago all have names I've never heard of.

Our reef club on the 19th is having a swap. A guy is selling 5 polyps of tub's blues for $20. I've got my 5 reserved.

Hard to price things like others have already mentioned. IMO, corals are overpriced especially when trading among clubs. There should really be more SHARING than what goes on... kind of annoying since the aquarium by itself is an endless money pit.

Me and a couple of guys in the club have decided to spend the same amount of money at the swap... grow the frags out for 2-3 months and then refrag. So, if we spend $200 each... in a few months it will be like each of us spent $600
