Cracked Bulb

I just noticed my 10k SE MH bulb is cracked. A wrasee or something might have jumped or spashed some water on the bulb and craked it. What bad things can accur if I leave this bulb on? Its still on and god knows since when it has been craked. Thanks.

It can break, sending glass shardes into your tank and exposing your corals to lethal amounts of UV...i believe

Well I guess I better turn them off and let them cool. Thank God I have new bulbs. Seems I will be breaking in one of the new bulbs of my upgrade sooner than I thought.

Great Idea, I just helped a friend clean out a 300gallon frag tank, where a 1000W MH broke and UV burned and killed almost every Acropora in the tank.

Thats what had me thinking something was wrong. Some of my acros just werent looking good. I even have some spots where theres no polyp extention and loss of color. Look up and what do you know...a cracked bulb. When I went to take it of it almost desintagrated in my hand. I had to fish out a piece of glass from the tank. All that was golding it together was the components inside the bulb.
