2 Part Epoxy - Safe?

I have a temperature sensor board that was built for monitoring the temp in my system. As it is on a circuit board I want to coat it before submersing it and planned on dipping it into 2 part liquid epoxy.

Are 2-part liquid epoxies reef safe once cured? Is there a specific type(s) that are or are not safe?

Thanks

You'll want to go with a product that is 100% solids and contains no VOC's. That said, there is a possibility that pigments in the cured product could leach heavy metals into your system. I'd stick to products which are potable water approved.

I'd steer clear of highly plasticized products as these plasticizers can and will leach out over time causing unknown effects. Most plasticizers are phthalate based compounds.

Almost any epoxy is okay, plywood tanks are routinely built with garage floor epoxies from Lowes or HD. Give your project plenty of cure time and you will have no problems. Go the RC homepage, click search tools on the left hand side and do a search for epoxy. You will find hundreds of references from people like me who have used all kinds of epoxy with no ill effects.

It is a temperature probe that measures the temperature and then converts it to an analog 4-20mA signal that my controller can use. Comercially available options were very expensive but this one is about $10.
