Question Wondering about tank....

Hey iv been wondering about the 29g biocube?.....

I have a friend with a reef tank that looks awsome and i myself own 2 freshwater tanks. At my lfs they have the 29g biocube for 270$and i was wondering if that would be a good starter tank for a reef aquarium. Considering the high costs of putting a tank together from scratch and the cost of buying live sand and live rocks, not to mention coral. I was wondering if that would be a nice tank for me, one i could display in my living room for years to come and yet be great for a beginner.(also being a complete setup)

(my friend is also an expert on saltwater tanks so he could always help me set it up and such)

http://www.fishdoctors.com/sale.asp (im not sure if the link will still have the aquarium because it was catagorized as a sale)

If theres anyone who has a biocube or knows anything negative it would be a great help to inform me......Thanks a lot

I have one as my first reef tank.

The build is good and it's a nice tank, but contains only about 23 gallons of water. Don't know where the 29 came from.

I have no complaints other than the lack of a sump is a bit limiting.

After 3 months I'm wishing that I had a larger tank (LOL) already and really wish I had a sump.

You can do almost anything with the BC, but like any small tank space is a premium.

That said, I can't complain and it's been an excellent learning experience.

The only thing i'm not really sure on is the lights. It says its Power compact, but doesn't give the wattage. For a reef tank you are probably going to want better light.

I have personal experience with them, and they are enough to grow beginner corals. Some are also available with metal halide lighting.

I have a BC 29 and I love it! Once you do a few little modifications and ditch a few of the thing that come with it , it works well. As far as upgrading lighting and such check out www.nanotuners.com they have alot of stuff. Good luck
