I finally finished redoing the RO and salt mixing tanks with the addition of a small blue line pump to recirculate the salt mix in one of the larger holding tanks. Works much better than the Sur-Flow pump (180gph) which is used to fill and drain the tanks. The new pump is rated at 470 GPH. Water is mixed in ther large tank and then transfer to the two smaller 65 gallon holding tanks

hmmm...I would have gone larger. I can't remember if I already posted this:
This is my new 200g fiberglass tank for storing RO/DI water.

Well, with all your systems it would be nice to have more water on-hand. Although 100g tanks are serving me fine, I just want to have a larger margin for emergencies.

you have to graduate from buckets to boxes Chuck! Buckets are for small tank owners.

well, if you can get a line on bulk bags, that would be good too. Usually just sold to large fish stores or aquacuture facilities, but I do know a couple reefers that have been able to get it.

good job Chuck. I think having the extra water on hand will help you out a lot. It's just nice to know you can do a very large water change should you run into a major problem, and with all those clams in one tank, at some point you could have a massive spawning event and need all that water.

Hey, first of all, i must say
W-O-W one of the most amazing tanks i've EVER seen... amazing work, *applause* second, I was wondering what exactly you feed your tangs. Because I have a blue tang, and it's not doing too hot. It's not really skinny or anything, but it's fins are torn up and it has scarring all over its face (i believe it had HLLE) it's doing well eating and stuff. I feed it dried seaweed from the clip almost everyday and it eats the brine shrimp and other meaty foods i feed my other fish, but I was just wondering if there's something better i could be feeding it. thanks =oD |
