New things I've learned.....

1)Drywall is heavy. It also has some sort of weird property where it's dimensions when flat are different than when upright. Because no matter how many times you measure it when you go to put it up it never fits right the first time.
b)Boys are hard to work with. Especially when one of them is trying to learn, one wants to take over, and the other is willing to teach but isn't always right on what he's teaching.
3)Given the alternative of listening to boys work, hauling trash is appealing.
And the number one thing I've learned recently.....
I'm really good at mud and tape on drywall. And i've never done it before! Well other than to patch the holes around here.... It's kind of like frosting a cake only with a REALLY big knife.....

That is exactly how I described mudding to my husband! It is just like frosting a cake!

Glad you like mudding Em.

Me - not so much - The only thing worse then mudding drywall is sanding it.

Just make sure all the screws are sunk. I hate having to stop and break out the screwdriver. Throws off the flow....

Another thing about drywall which drove me crazy until I realized it was real---it's thin on the edges and thick in the middle. This is to accommodate bedded tape seal without a lump at the join.
So if you cut drywall pieces to butt against each other, it matters where on the big sheet you cut it from. A sander can help.

Everybody do yourselves a favor and rent a drywall sander. They sand the mud in 1/10th the time and no drywall dust anywhere. Trust me, you'll be happy you did.
