3x2x2 lighting with lumenarc's

would 2x250w lumenarc mini pendants over a 3x2x2 be overkill? the tank will mainly be SPS with a few LPS and softies. If it would, how would you change this?

I guess you could use two but why dont you use just one big lum III. I think the lumenarc III's are 19.5 inch each . from what i'm told 1 lum III will cover a 3x3 area so one is fine. you would save on electric and set up costs.

I think the luminarcs can even cover up to a 4x4 area. Do you have a hood or open top? The only problem I see with the luminarc, being a square design, is to get coverage at the the 3 ft length, you may have to accept a lot of light spill for the 2 ft width. in an open top this could be an issue. If so, then I think a more traditional rectangular pendant like ROIII provide decent coverage with less light spill will be better. If your planning a hood, then I believe the luminarc is a great choice, since light spill will be covered and you'll have a great reflector and save on electricity and bulb replacement. One reflector will definitely cover your tank.

I am hoping to retrofit it into a open top pelmet. Therefore cutting out the lightspill.
