PSA: Everyone Please Read

This is an article by Eric Borneman that details 2 new treatments for montipora nudibranchs, they may also be effective for other coral predators, but more observation is needed.

Thanks for mentioning this article, very promising.

A Thought, would Potassium permanganate also work against AEFW and their egg-paches?

I hope someone know more about this.

I don't know about the AEFW but I think someone should try it.

I send Mr. Borneman an Email and asked him his thoughts about Potassium permanganate and AEFW (and their eggs) treatment.

If he thinks it could work I will set up an experiment.

I think the biggest question there is if the acropora can withstand the treatment. The dosage may have to be modified to limit coral mortality but still be effective on the predator, or it may not be effective. Should definitely be a good one to use for zoanthids as well.

You're right Pyrrus, that's why someone have to do an experiment with several species of Acropora infected with AEFW to determine the right dosage.

It would be interesting to know, as he seems to report that it deals with the eggs also. Would montipora be hardier than acropora?? The montipora seemed to be able to tolerate a short period in it
