Top off

I need a top off system for my 29 gal. Should I buy or build?

If buy: which do you suggest?

If build: can you point me to plans?

Thanks

Tunze Osmolator. I have one on my AP24 and it does a very nice job.

I would buy, seems to be more foolproof as well as easier. You can get a great system minus the pump for $50 from www.autotopoff.com Its not the fanciest out there but it does a great job. Ive owned one for about a year and its been great. Works very well.

www.aquahub.com has a decent ATO kit, as well. Haven't used it myself, but it looks pretty good.

I'm using the JBJ ATO and with a bit of modding I was able to use both floats in the third chamber of my NC12g

And if your not made of $, this $20 float valve is what I use, and couldn't be happier.

It doesn't work well with kalk.

edit, I use mine connected to a bucket, gravity fed, but you can hook it to an RO unit also.

Eklikewhoa,
Got any pictures of how you have both floats in your NC12g?

Tsunami AT1 here. I've had it going for a couple weeks now and works great. The suction cups are worthless so I got a small diameter lift tube and rubber banded the sensor to it and then dropped it in vertically in my sump.

Ca>480ppm, I'm bringing it down
dKH=9, ok
PO4=0ppm, ideal

1/06/08 after a water change
Ca= 480ppm, still a little high
pH= 8.2, I'd like it at 8.3
NO3= 10ppm, acceptable

It's always funny when someone suggests a $300 litermeter or a $300 trunze pump on every post without regard to the needs of the poster.

That aquahub site has a kit for $40 that would be fine with a aqualifter pump or small powerhead. You can PM me if you need help with any of the install.

BTW, auto-top-off, is: IMHO, very important in Nano reefkeeping!

Here you go....not the greatest since it's installed already and there is a lot of equipment in chamber3 to pull it out.

basically I slotted the retaining box so that the second float would slide on in the corner upside down to shut the pump off if the first float where to ever get stuck.

I agree with joedirt54, it is very important. Keeping water level constant keeps the salinity constant.
