Go and look at a jetty , or new runway around the red sea or pacific. The amount of 'live rock' used for these construction projects is enormous. Blaming 'live rock' for bulk reduction of reef mass is ridiculous.
Go look at the new breakwater in Dubai. A couple kilometeres long, 10 by 5 metres in section, calcaerous rock 100%. That rock wasn't quarried either - it looks like it was shallow dredged. How many years of live rock is that?

i would love to know the ratio of the amount of lr used in construction worldwide vs. aquarium use.
