Great White in Captavity
Not sure if it belongs here or not...but here goes.
A young white shark caught inadvertently off Southern California in a commercial fishing net is now on display in our Outer Bay Exhibit—the only white shark on exhibit anywhere in the world. About 4-feet long and weighing about 60 pounds, she was brought to Monterey as part of our three-year white shark research project. The shark devoured a meal of wild-caught salmon fillets less than 24 hours after going on exhibit—a breakthrough in the decades-long effort by public aquariums to successfully keep this globally threatened ocean predator on long-term exhibit. We'll constantly evaluate her condition and decide day-to-day whether she'll remain on display. Live Webcam |
