Question octopus nw200 not producing bubbles

I got the octopus nw200 skimmer maybe a month ago. I just barely got the time to test it out in water and it is not producing any kind of bubbles. its only making fat bubbles that just float to the top of the chamber. what gives? did i do something wrong?

HELP PLEASE!!!!

Freshwater will not produce the bubbles like you are expecting.

Does this look normal running in just freshwater? i just want to make sure nothing is wrong with my pumps. Cant really test with saltwater since my current project is not up yet but i will be taking it ti a friends house to see how it runs in his tank.

Make a small bucket/container of saltwater to test it in.

If you're ever testing a skimmer in freshwater and want to see if it foams without using saltwater, just add a good amount of vinegar to the water. You'll quickly see just how well the skimmer bubbles!

Thanks trmiv, I have read about the vinegar in the water and i will give it a shot. I actually had no clue that skimmers wouldnt make the micro bubbles we look for in fresh water.

Schuran, Sander and some other companies do make freshwater protein skimmers
