Here are the zoas that RJ gave to me...

And here are my new sun polyps, they are getting ready to open I believe...The pink ones are hard to photograph as their colors are so intense...

Yep, those Sun's will tease you for a couple of day's. Just when you think they are opening up they close down again those little tease's.

Amanda, those 4 smaller orange zoa's on that rock are a different kind of zoa as I got them from Farms at the Sea. They are really slow growing and did not do much in my tank, maybe you will have better luck with those tiny delicate sucker's. Those larger ones are fast growing though, so you will enjoy a nice little garden of them in a few months.

I think I have an issue with one of my pink polyps!!! I thought they were pooping, brown stringy stuff coming out the mouth, but now there is skeleton showing, like the polyp is melting away!!!!! What should I do?

Is it just one of the two?? Are there any critters near them that could be irritating it?

I swear today is just a BAD day all around--I hope I didn't send my horrible luck to you Amanda!

Nothing is touching it. It's only 3 right now that are sliming. Neither of my 2 pink polyps are opening, however, they show signs of life. They had a very sunken in look when I got them, and now they are puffy.
My yellow one on the other hand is definelty opening. Here are some pics...

the sick one

my opening yellow one!!

That's very cool!! They are starting to scream "feed me"

Maybe it's just stress from shipping...knowing how good you take care of your tank, they will be fine in no time!

About half the polyps on the orange one are open now. All my lights are off for the night. I'm going to wait an hour, try to give the polyps more time to open, then shut all current off in my tank and feed with a turkey baster by flash light. I bought some vitamin enriched mysid today.

Just give the pink ones a chance, I know it took my Orange/Yellow ones a day before they really did anything and a whole week to open up all the way. I think I posted some pictures thinking I got a short tentacle sun polyp becasue it's tentacles were so short until a full week later and at night they are really out.

That's reassuring! I fed the orange sun corals and it ate very well!!! The hard part was keeping the crabs and cleaner shrimp away! The pinks still have not opened, but definetly look puffy now, not so sunk in looking.
RJ, I used the new vitamin enriched mysid by Hikari, and I like it a lot better than the Sanfransico Bay brand. The shrimp are much smaller.

Anyway, I'll talk to you all in the morning, it's been a long day!

Great tank steve68; I love the wood-working, and I bet it looks even better in person! I hope I can find someone some day that will be supportive of this hobby, because it's not going away, lol.

Amanda, is there some sort of soda bottle you could put the top-half on the polyps when feeding (squirt inside the bottle with a turkey baster) to prevent your other critters from getting to the polyps?

Steve, they will eat cyclopeez, but they like meaty foods too.

Kayla, I can't do the pop bottle method for the yellow one, it's too big!!!!

They pink ones never opened last night. I checked several times during the night. But they are definetly alive as they are closer to opening now!

That's good Amanda; maybe they will open during the day...? I had no clue the yellow ones were so big!! They look quite large, but that means they are mammoth if they can't fit in a "pop" bottle .

Steve, that is a sweet looking tank man.

Amanda, did that little piece of turquoise mushroom stay attached to that rock? I really hope it does something for you, but that was about the size of mine 8 months ago when I got it from Farms At The Sea.

RJ, the mushroom is doing great! I have it in my little fuge and I squirted some food in there last night.

I"m such the mom. You should have seen me last night. I was up at 2, 3 and 4:30 last night checking to see if the pink sun coral opened so I could feed it.
