magnesium problem
I have a 220 gal reef with 100 gal sump and a 75 gal refugium with a plenum . my ph is 8.1 calcium is 470 alk is 12 but my magnesium is 900 .I cant get it any higher than 1200 for a 24 hr period. It drops back to 800 to 900 . any help would be great . I am using epson salt to raise it.

Sounds like it is precipitating out of your water, have you tried doing water changes to bring it up? Also try an over the shelf magnesium suppliment to see if it's an issue with your epsom salts...

I would be suspect of a bad test kit. CA. generally will not rise above 360-380 unless your MG is 1280 or higher. I also found epson salt to be worthless unless your CA. and MG uptake is extremly low meaning you have little to no hard corals.
Also if I may ask, why the plenum in the fuge??
