Are these fish the same?
The top one is a Blue Bar Pseudochromis from www.marinecenter.com The bottom picture is what I got from them when I ordered it. I can tell it's not as vibrant as the picture on the website, to me the picture on the website looks saturated and the colors look tampered with (But that's another story). I think they are the same, the yellow head is there, the yellow line that runs down the body of the fish is on mine as is the verticle contrasting blue bands on the fishes midsection. Either way I don't care, it's a cool fish regardless. What do you think????? |

They sure have enough simularities to me to be the same. I know some people will photoshop a pic to enhance colors and in my opinion its misrepresenting the actual fish. I am in the landscape biz and people are always showing me catalogs of plants that have some crazy coloration and wanting it and I have to tell them it will never be that color. Maybe in time yours will get a bit bolder in its color scheme. I recently added a large Black Tang and it almost looked blue for the first 24 hours and then it became more black so it could be stressed induced.

Looks like they photoshopped the devil out of the first photo, and probably started with a pic of a male in full breeding mode to boot. They are interesting little fish though, and yours does look like 99% of the males Ive seen in the hobby.
