New Mushroom and GSP...How do I attach to rock?
I picked up a single Red Mushroom and a small strand of GSP's today. Neither are attached to any rock yet. Will either of them attach themselves or do I need to superglue these like my SPS.

mushrooms might be too slimy to super glue... i would either tie it to a rock with a piece of thread, or rubber band it to it until it attaches itself..

For the GSP's, I would wedge the strand in between two pieces of rubble and let them attach to both. It spreads quickly.
For the mushroom, I would use a rubber band as mentioned. Dont wind it too tight, just enough to make sure the shroom cant float away. It will attach in a couple days. I just did that with a loose red shroom I had. |

dont put htat gsp anywhere near your main reef or you will regret it.
you cant kill that stuff and it will spread and caouse damage. Its pretty enough, but moutn it on a rock and pout it away from the main reef. you can just throw a glob of glue down on the rock and throw the gsp in it face up and call it good. mushrooms can be glued if you are prepared to be a little brutal. you need to wipe off the slime repeatedly with q-tips, then set in a good sized glob of glue and leave them ont he counter for 20 minutes or so. You need the glue to burn and stick to flesh...nto slime. the easiet way non brutal way i have foudn to get them to attach is to get a little tupper ware container and riddle it with holes and fill with rubble. put the shroom in it and wait for it to attach to the rubble, then one it has just glue the rubble and shroom wherever you want |

I can attest to flyyy's statement. I have a ton of GSP in my tank. They are nice, however they take over quickly.

It can depend on the tank though, my GSP barely grows, where as my xenia is a weed, and my mushrooms are just now starting to take off after months.

That looks very similar to my GSP "takeover."

That's scary, will it spread across the sand too?

if you put it on a piece of rubble away from the main reef it can be contained. it can spread across sand, but it is easily removable from the wsandbed and takes a lot longer to do so to be sure, that isnt my picture. |

I superglued the GSP down and just placed the Mushroom where I wanted it. When I got up the next day the Mushroom looked like it had taken up permanant residence there. Here's some pics of what I got.

you can also place the mushroom in a baby food jar with some rubble. It will attach to the rubble without floating away. Then you can glue the rubble to a rock or use some putty.

cool.
glad it worked out for you. However, if that was a loose mushroom without a rock stuck to it that you just set in your reef and it was ablt to just sit there and attach itself, you need more flow in your tank in a big way |

I've got plenty of flow(2 seio m620's in a 38g), I just placed it so that some rocks were blocking it from the flow while it attached. Although even where it is you can see it flapping in the flow, it almost instantly grabbed on where I placed it, pretty weird.
