Temperature ?
Will temperature be different in the exact same system if it has fresh instead of salt?

Well I'm setting up a saltwater tank and have fresh water running through it now.I'm trying to get around using a chiller.I'm not happy with the temp. It's o.k with the lights and the mag 7 return, but with the mag 12 that is running the closed loop it's gettin up to 84-85.I have a fan running on the sump.I want to have all these problems worked out before I transfer my livestock.

Yea I'm working on rigging 1 up right now to see if it drops the temp over the next couple of hours. If it works I'm gonna make it more of a permanent fixture.

The main thing I want to know though is if there is a actual temp variation between salt and fresh water.I want to know how much of a variation there is if there is one. That way I can figure out if I need a chiller or not.I have one but I'm trying to deleat it from my power bill

i would try to just run a fan over it first also you can try to insulate ur stand that and run a fan in there that would keep it really cool however you may run into a ph problem but that nothing that a simple airator to put fresh back into your sump

Salt water should make no difference. Most tanks can run without chillers.
