Acanthurus leucosternon
Is't possible to have more than one acanthurus leucosternon in a 430G tank? The tank is 3 meter or 9,84 feet long

Laget? I saw people who tried in tanks slightly smaller. When they're small they're OK, but when they're getting larger they like to fight and leave nasty scars on each other. If you're willing to try, try with the smaller specimens. |

You can try, but get no less than 8. Should diffuse the pecking order. Still risky though

Hi
I never heard of any case with long-term success. As long as they are small it may work, but as soon as they grow bigger, no way. Here in Berlin the new Aquadome public aquarium has a 1 million Liter tank (approx. 250 000 gallons). They tried with a few dozen, from what I've heard recently, only one or two survived. I don't know if this decline in numbers has something to do with aggression, as they are loosing fishes by the hundreds due to lack of care, knowledge etc. In Arnheim (Holland) they have an even larger tank, there are a few A.leucosternon, but apparently their number is decreasing rapidly. Haven't been there myself, heard it from friends. I wouldn't risk these beautiful fishes, the odds are against you. Cheers Jens |

8 leucosternon in a tank ? that should be funny and entertaining to watch... when they grow, you will end up with 8 mike tysons in a box.
