OT: Where can i get red-eared sliders

where in the city can i get a red-eared slider turtle? i am looking for one less then 4inch's. i know where to get them in LA but i am not there. any help would be great. you can even send me a pm. Thanks clay

As hinted above, under 4" is illegal unless you are an educator.

is it?? how come they sell them at LFS?? There are a whole bunch at King. My sister in law got them from somewhere for $8 each. I now have 4 because of her.

all the places that had them for sale in the city no longer offer them. It was a recent crack down, so don't expect to be able to find them in the city anytime soon. even those available in chinatown have gone bye bye. I'd just get one that's 4", turtles are so long lived anyways. At 4" they're not as "cute" but atleast if you get one that big its not because they're cute.

i love turtles, but they require such a commitment.. i still have one and ive had him for 20 years! i'm 23! who knows how old he was when i got him.

well as for the educator i am a military instructor. i am just looking for info. it doesn't have to be in the city. the bay area works

i know this doesnt help but when i lived in dallas a couple of summers ago they were in every creek. tiny too about 2 in. i never understood why they still sold them in LFS since you could walk out to about any body of water and catch one.

They've been illegal for years, it's nothing new.

Military instructor I doubt would fly in this case in the laws eyes, but a store like Elite is talking about may just sell it to you.

Elite, they may very well be selling them, just like a store was selling bootleg DVD's near my house. Doesn't make it legal, just makes them law breakers.

i was at King Aquarium in San Jose off of Story Rd last weekend. they had a whole bunch of red sliders and softshell turtles for sale under 4 inches. didn't look at the price tho....

Jojo aquarium in Sac has them too. i think their off of Stockton blvd....i bought 4 a few weeks ago for my nephew....i think they were 2 for $15 bucks.....
