Wiring 2 switches into a ballast

I just picked up a new t5 fixture in a trade with a fellow reefer and have a question. The light is actually for hydroponics, but does have 4 reflectors...the thing is...you plug it in and its on...no switches...Is there a way I can wire the ballast to have 2 switches...so I can turn on 2 lights at a time...I can take out 2 lights and 2 still work but I dont know if this puts any undo stress on the ballast or the remaining bulbs...does anyone know if it can be done safely

ballasts outputs are things best left alone. That said, its easy to wire a switch onto the wall plug end of it. Home depot or Lowes seelas the electical boxes and switchs needed. With the right parts it should take about 5 min to add the switch.

If it has only one ballast then no. If it has 2 ballasts then yes.
