beckett skimmer vs. etss downdraft.

I going from a 265 gal to 400 gal reef tank. I wonder if anyone has had any experience with these brands. I currently have a etss and think it works very well. I will however be looking for a larger unit. The barr aquatic beckett skimmers do look interesting. The etss has worked well with little maintance, just empty cup weekly.

Hi,

I run two skimmers in my sump. One is a beckett skimmer made by me, running with a 1000 gph pump; the other one is a turboflotor with a needle pump.

Both are ok, I use the first one to dose ozone and oxigenate the water (it makes so many tiny bubbles that is perfect for that). The other one gets the bad stuff out of my system (foam out).

I have a gymnomuraena zebra in the same tank with a caulastrea, lobophilia, sinularia, anthelia, sarcophyton,.... with no problems of nitrates or phosphates yet (making 20% water changes monthly).

Good luck with it.
