Talking 1st view of my 10ft SPS tank

My 1000GL SPS is finally up and running.
Most of the rocks/corals/fish were from the previous tanks.
The view is unreal compare to my previous tank because of it's size.
I stocked additional 22 anthias and 12 green chromis and it really looks like in the ocean.

I am getting some algae growth due to the new dry coral sand used. Hopefully it will wear out soon.

My wife is enjoying the view.

WOW.

Absolutely stunning. I love the open water that allows schools of fish to roam.

The best looking representation of a real reef that I have seen yet. Great work.

I am glad you notice some difference.
I spend 1 month to plan and design the lay out.
Since I am a kin diver, I was having the opportunity to observe the real reef oftenly.
Anyway, it will take some time for the small colony to grow.
Thanks for the comment.

Beautiful! I remember when you posted awhile back on your 500 crashing. Awesome comback from that incident.

I would also like to know more about the tank itself and your equipment.

Actually the renovation worker unplugged my chiller pump by mistake. The temperature rised over 34 degree celcius in 4 hours.
I was unable to save most but 4 big colonies from my old reef.

This tank I have an exclusive electrical installation with a temperature controller that will sound alarm and shut off the metal halides if the temperature go up to 28 degrees celcius.
Another alarm will sound if the electricity went out.

I actually started keeping reef tanks after got hooked by diving.
Since I live 3 hours from the ocean and due to work, I don't dive very often.
If I am not diving, I stare at my tank

Just gorgeous. I love the dimensions of that tank.

120x50x39 for the metric challenged such as myself. Gotta love the online converters!

Great job on the aquascaping too. Please keep us updated as the tank progresses.

That view is gorgeous. It really does look like a true reef out in the ocean. Awesome comeback from disaster. You give the rest of us hope and inspiration knowing that even after disaster one can come back stronger. Thanks for sharing .

The big tables were the surviving members of the crashed 5 year tank.

Ironically it is the opposite to what you think.
Almost no LFS is selling SPS since there are extremely few hobbyst can keep SPS alive.
On top of that the LFS think SPS is bad deal since they brown out so fast and few will buy brown out colonies.
There is also hardly any fine equipment or addictives available.
Our small group had to import everything via Singapore.
We still have to travel great distance from the big cities to reach clean reef and most of the area wild havesting is banned, especially to visitors.

We had to mail order from Bali exporters to get those tiny frags. Big monti or fragile staghorns are just impossible to ship without damage.

So nice icliao, well worth all your effort. As far as your aquascaping, looks like a window to a reef, not an aquarium.
Great tank, great work!
