Seriathopora Pink fading: photoinhibition ?
Since I lowered my reflector (it is now 7" from water) 3 months ago I noticed my seriathopora started to loose color. Is it possible I caused some photoinhibition to it ? It´s located 6" below water.
I was using Giesemann 250W 12,5K on a HQI ballast and last week changed for Giesemann Coral 250W 14,5K (even more light - PAR 120 now x 88 before). I´m thinking to try to move down the coral, but would like some opinions before, don´t want to stress it without be sure of the results. All other corals are good, parameters and water levels are stable and ok. This is a picture of 2 months ago. It was already fading but today is much more clear.

I have found that when i change my lights and the K is different, the corals dont seem to like it. So i put my lights on for a shorter time. ust for a week or so, This seemed to help.

deep6er,
I always reduce photoperiod in 50% when change bulbs, and increase it 30 minutes per day. Tks for the tip, but the problem is something else here...

Hi there Wesley!
What about the other corals? If they improved colors you would move the seriathopora a bit down otherwise u could lift the reflector at it's original level. On the pic u posted the color is great, congrats! |
