I'm a little frustrated with my skimmer

Hello, I have a Berlin XL skimmer with a mag pump rated at ~920gph. I recently wanted to see what my CPR skimmer would do next to this huge beast.

My CPR bakpak pulls more crud out of the water than my big skimmer does!?!?!!!!! I obviously don' t have the XL set up correctly. Would getting a NW pump help? Maybe just a large venturi pump?

Any kind of help would be awesome

The XL just isnt a good skimmer.

A NW pump may help.

I would recommend selling it and finding a new skimmer.

If you are on a budget, reef octopus skimmers work well. ASM's do too.

If you wanted to spend a little more $$$ look into Euro-reef, H&S and Deltec.

FWIW, I sold my Berlin XL about 1 month after I bought it. I have never looked back.

After doing some research, I think you should check into the RS line by Euro-reef. Great performance and priced to match up the ASM's but with better performance.

I think that I might just strike out and make a NW mod. Put 2 smaller nw's on the body of my XL. I'm going to need to figure out which pumps though. I know I need some smaller ones to keep contact with the water longer
