Red Bugs

Are Red Bugs that harmful. I think I have some on a few of my corals. They don't seem to be doing any damage (yet).

If I end of dosing Interceptor, will that effect any of my fish?

I might try a pipe fish first.

Yes they are harmful, no it wont hurt your fish. You may not be able to see the damage they are causing but believe me your corals would look sooo much better without parasites.

Red bugs are very easy to treat for red bugs. It may affect inverts but your fish will be fine. There's tons of threads on treatment.

I just spoke to a vet about Interceptor and she said it killed all of her fish when she dosed her tank. Anyone else had any bad results when using this stuff?

I have used it 5 times now(redbugs twice), overdosed every single time, did not do a water change for a week after on one of the doses. I never lost any thing but redbugs and whatever hermits and shrimp i may have missed.

Ok. Now how do I get my two cleaner shrimp out. They like to hang out in a cave that I can't get to.

They come out very seldom.

Mine would not come out either this last time so i went ahead and treated the tank anyway...
I tried traps, i tried bait, i tried baited traps, scare tatics and nothing worked. In my case it was either rip the tank apart or treat the tank with him in it. Once he passed i fed him to my lionfish.

Feed your shrimp by hand for a few days. When they are comfortable, scoop them up by hand. It works.

What will the interceptor kill if dosed in the tank? It wouldn't be too much of a hassle for me to dip each coral individually, but if I could I would rather do it in the tank. I don't have any fish but do have clams, and a pom-pom crab. I also have a good deal of hitchhiking inverts (several snail species, pistol shrimp, etc.) which I would rather not kill.

when i did my treatment, it killed my crabs, snails, hermit crabs and shrimps * however, not all , about 50% stay alive after 3 treatments.
