Mounting Metal Halide in a Canopy

Hi,
I want to get feedback on a plan for Metal Halide's in my Canopy. I am working on a 65g build (salt water is in, waiting for LR) and I'm looking to the next step of adding lights. I want Metal Halide, but I want to keep size and cost down as much as possible. I plan to get two 150W (maybe 250W) MH pendants and mount them inside my Canopy. Approximate space is 36" x 18" x 8" deep. I plan to mount the ballasts underneath the tank and add fans for cooling

My question: Would this Metal Halide fixture work if I were to attach it directly to the under side of the Canopy? Would I need additional splash protection? Any suggestions? Alternatives?

Thank you!

- Eric

yes that should work. However you will need adequate ventilation (fans) on your canopy

also make sure there is at least 1/4 of an inch between the fixture and the canopy. Also make sure the ballasts are plenty ventilated. I would mount the ballasts possibly somewhere where its not humid.
And yes it does come with a glass shield

yes, make sure the ballasts are away from too much heat and have air flow. This will extend the ballast life. Also, run fans in the canopy.
