That is to bad, I was going to vote for 28. Oh well back to the selection board.

I personally prefer photos with natural light (no strobe) and nice boken. Even though the background is usually not in focus, it's composition is important and contributes to the boken. I also like the entire subject to be in focus being out of focus is to highlight some feature.

My choice after disqualifications was between 12 and 13. In 12 the color is a tad bit off on my computer where 12 is spot on however this might be due my monitor. I voted 13 because the entire subject was in focus where 12 was not. Both are very nice photos and the choice was difficult.

13 is pretty nice, but the composition is overdone, IMO. We've all seen profile after profile of fish. Good job on the focus, though.

I was torn between 17 and 30, both of which are similar shots. The DOF on 30 was just a little too shallow for me, though I liked the "dopey" composition. I ended up voting for 17 because of the texture and slightly deeper DOF. I also enjoy the tranquil mood of that shot.

What is 14? An adult Chevron? I have only ever seen juvs. If that is an adult Chevron I can see why people pay so much for them, that tang looks awesome!

that is still a juv chevron, when they get adult coloration, they get kinda grey/brown and quite drab looking

There is a different contest each month. You'll have to pay attention to this forum to stay up on which contest is running each month, and so you can make a submission.

Examples of previous contests were: predators, full tank shots, inverts, etc.
