ebay question

i been looking for bows on ebay, and theres a guy willing to end his auction early for the right price....which is a good deal. i emailed saying i would take it and his reply was:

Yes sir it's a 28" draw enght with 80% let off.The payment method i'm
able to use is western union if ebay will approve it (i'll tell them
about this transaction). If they will approve it, you'll receive a invoice
from them and from that moment you're inssured by ebay.Before i contact
them you must confirm your full name and addres(where you want me to
ship the bow) phone nomber and eBay user id .Let me know if we can
arrange this deal.

is this a legitimate form of payment?

Scam, never buy from someone ending an auction early. Also as much as I hate paypal, it is the only way to pay with ebay that is worth using.

Not necessarily a scam. I've ended auctions early for the right price and people have ended them for me. That being said, don't trust ebay to insure you for anything. Or paypal. And I don't know if you could trust Western Union.

I won an auction legitimately one time. I was buying a pair of Oakleys for a birthday present. I paid with paypal immediately after the auction. Then I waited and waited and waited. No communication from the seller. They never sent them. I filed a complaint with ebay and paypal. One would just send me to the other to try to get reimbursed. Neither one ever did. I paid cash from my checking account so there was nothing anyone could do.

Sadly, the only one that you know will re-imburse you is a credit card company.

I would ask the seller to just edit his auction and put a buy it now price at a given time and then be on and buy it when he does. Then it's at least a legit auction. Quite a few legitimate sellers will gladly end an auction early because it eliminates incurring any end of auction final price fees, unless you've bid on it already. Good luck. What kind of bow you getting? I still use my Hoyt Raider from 99. The new ones are sweet but 700 bucks for bare bow is pretty steep right now.

I agree SCAM. Western Union will not back you up if the deal never comes to fruition. At least with PayPal, you have a leg to stand on.
Also, Ebay does not back you up until it's too late....... I can say this because I've been ripped off by a "powerseller" and Ebay STILL has'nt helped me yet. If you decide to go with the Western Union thing, make darn sure to check the sellers FEEDBACK! TinMan

Nothing on it sounds right. Even if you get the bow at the price, how can you be assured of the condition it's in? It's not hard for a bow that's been dry fired or used real heavily to need $100 to $200 worth of work to get it shoot straight.

I am a long time e-bay'r and a long time bow hunter. A used compound bow isn't something I'd buy sight unseen.

Additionally, I hope you're not looking for a bow to use this hunting season. Unless you're a very experienced bow shooter, you're not going to have time to get up to speed on a strange bow before hunting season. The time to start getting ready for the season is May or June.
