The Days of Dustin or Boofer Gets Bagged.
A little heads up.
Dustin (Boofer) and his wife came home from vacation to find his house flooded. Turns out one of the housings on his RO split and pumped water into his house for about three days. His insurance company has them in a hotel. He's had to tear down his tank because of the reflooring going on. Needless to say his wife is not too happy. He came by the shop to drop off his live stock and when I waved at her I think she gave me the finger. An unwanted guest living under the Starboard in his tank.

Man, a double whammy. That might explain some smalle rfish loses, huh? I found two Eunicid worms in a friends tank down in Oxford during a move some seven years ago and thought they were the ugliest looking things in the world. His were only about a foot long (nothing like Weast's), but we attributed the lose of several small fish shortly after introduction to the worms. Hate to hear about the 2-3" on the floor, Dustin. It's always something, isn't it...

I found the exact type of worm in my 12gal about 5 months ago. Mine was about 18inches long and had been living in a piece of rock. I have no idea how we did not see it before the fateful evening when it crawled out of one side of the rock and back in the other.
I had soft corals disappearing for about a week. That is one of the nastiest things on earth. Gave me the willies. |

OT, but Kevin, I'll be in town Saturday. I've got to hook up with Ramiro (lives over by Kermit's). Are you in that area?

Sorry about the flood, Dustin. I thought my overflows were bad. My husband was none too happy when the water leaked to the ceiling in the den downstairs!! That BIG worm Dave posted grossed me out and I am unsure if I will ever be able to put my hand in my tank again without hearing the theme from Jaws!!

Thx Guys and Gals for all the support. Its been very depressing to say the least. Especially with all the other bad things that have been happening lately with the tank. As Dave said, We were out of town and had a girl watching the house. It was in a 25 hour time period that the Cannister broke and she walked into 3-4" of water throughout the house. We couldnt get back right away, so it sat there for 3 days before we could get back. I wouldnt have let it sit that long if I knew how bad it really was, but I didnt realize the true damage by just talking to the young girl that was watching the house. It was so bad, You could smell the mold/mildew 10 ft from the door before it was opened. About 20 minutes after being inside the first night, my wife was coughing real bad and my lungs were hurting from all the spores. It was a nightmare to say the least. Ive thought real hard and long about if this was worth it anymore, and Ive got to tell you, Ive been waffling. A few days ago Id tell you for sure I was out, but now Im trying to stay positive about it and am going to take this chance to change a few things on the tank before (if) I set it back up. Im taking a decent break for sure. If for no other reason than to let "Murphy" move on. Im definately not going out of town with the Ro on anymore, thats for sure What were the chances?!?!
I appreciate the offer Milkshake, but Im going to re-use my existing RO with all NEW cannisters Cmon Dave, you know that was both fingers she gave you:P She is getting a bunch of new stuff (all flooring, cabinets, furniture, etc) out of this deal, but she hates the tank more than ever:P Needless to say, Ive had to do a lotta lovin and kissin *** here lately As for the worm, that was just the icing on the cake for me. I had been having weird losses of corals and then the 6 Anthias and the Red Sea 8-line that I couldnt find anywhere. It all makes sense now....go figure. It could have easily eaten those Anthias for sure. That thing was about 10-14" (That sound about right, Dave?) and it scared the crap out me when it came out from under the Starboard by my hand. I almost screamed like a little girl Everything happens for a reason, but that doesnt mean we have to understand it.....Im just trying to look at the bright side. Plus, I dont go down that easy Thx again
