Suggestions for a 20 gallon?

I am setting up a 20 gallon high under the stand of my 120. I was going to make this a fuge, but now am thinking of making it a tank with small, strange creatures that I would not want in my main tank. I am open to suggestions...I do not necessarily want corals in this tank, but something more interesting and something you don't see everyday.

The tank will be lit by a 2 X 65 watt PC hood, but that could also be changed out to something else.
Throw ideas at me...I am open to any and all ideas.

Thanks,
Richard

Do a colored angler or a Sargassum.
I had a sargassum before I moved to Memphis. They are awesome to watch eat. The colored anglers are really neat as well.

i've always thought an angler would be an interesting fish to keep. i just don't know if i could get past feeding it live food...
i'd feel sorry for the little feeder fish...

I have no problem feeding live food. That is just the way it works in nature.

Why not feed the mantis frozen (thawed) krill? Will he not accept them? Or have you tried?

sometimes he will accept frozen clams, but he seems to enjoy "the hunt"... stalking and pouncing on his prey..

hey richard, i was out buying a sailfin tang tonight at petco of all places. i saw they had a few anglers and a really beautiful black one at that. i almost set up a 20 gallon for it . so basically what im trying to say is im jumping on the angler bandwagon as well after watching one for an hour tonight. it doesnt move much but you can stare at them for a long time and be entertained. also another plus is even full grown a 20 would be "decent" for it. btw the petco i was at, dare i say it, has good s/w husbandry. the angler looked good as well as every other fish there. the manager rick q/t's the fish and will NOT sell you a fish with ich and immed. removes it from the system. thats why i actually buy from them. i got my 2 1/2" sailfin for 19 bucks but back to the angler id go for it. the black looks the best imo. ive youve never seen one feed its insane! it has the worlds quickest reaction. i believe it strikes in a tenth of a second or somehing like that. let us know what you choose!good luck <~~steve

I think a "species" tank for water molecules would be neat.
