Green toadstool
Anybody own one of these and have a pic? What color polyps do they have?
Is just the body of it green? http://liveaquaria.com/product/prod_...fm?pCatId=2051 http://www.marinedepotlive.com/toads...-leathers.html |

I do not own, nor have I specifically seen green toadstools from these two companies. Sometimes, a green toadstool is merely a toadstool with a light moss to mint like color on the main coral and similar to yellow colored polyps. Other times, and what seems to currently be the more vogue trend in reef keeping at the moment, the polyps are a neon green, while the body is a pink-flesh to orangey color (although, these are more often refered to as "green polyped" or "neon green polyped" toadstool leathers). Unfortunately, leathers, just like zoanthids and other corals, can vary almost dramatically from specimen to specimen and from dealer to dealer. And, even more unfortunate, neither of your current options (the two links above) are a what-you-see-is-what-you-get situation.

this is a green leather you are referring too... Very hard to tell species apart and this is not the flourescent green leather. Just a green mint body but very long polyps on some.

Here is a pic of my green one under actinics:
Its a light green under daylights. It is considered the "neon" green variety.

I have 2 small ones in my BC29.
This one started by itself on a rock from my large one I had in my 150. and this one was a chunk that fell off the large one that I saved when I tore down the 150 and glue it to a frag disk. Both bases are a tan color and the polyps are lime green. |

Its the neon variety I am after but I can only finds frags of it. I am curious as to what the ones in the links would be.
Are there any strains of sarcophyton which are pure green body but not green polyps, as this is what I am guessing those links are of. Green body, but boring tan or white polyps. I really love that neon green polyp strain, but never could find a sizeable specimen. |

I've never seen a toadstool leather with a green body like that. I got a frag of the neon green polyped toadstool (not tyree but still bright) and it has good color. I would try to get a frag of what you are interested in from another reefer so you can make sure you are getting what you want. I've seen people selling them around here on occasion. Here's mine when I first got it.

Well here is an update.
I ordered the Green sarcophyton from Liveaquaria. In addition I ordered the ORA neon green. I know for sure the ORA is going to have the bright green polyps I want but its only a frag and I was really hoping for a more sizeable piece. With the other piece I will have to find out once and for all what the "Green sarcophyton" which is shown in the link turely is. From the pics in the links it looks 100% green polyps and body as well.... |

Vijay:
I am in NYC and have a neon green toadstool I am selling frags of. My cell is: 917-287-5512. I was making changes to my rockwork and ended up having to cut the toadstool. It is a beauty though and grows well. -Alfred |
