They both are! Good news, eh? Somewhat tedious but worth the effort of keeping an supply. If you do not care to keep them reproducing just buy in bulk, use them up and order again.

Easy when you compare it to keeping delicate creatures like Seahorses. If you are up to care for them, keeping feeder shrimp should be a snap in time.

Excellent! Take lots of notes. Very helpful for others who are thinking about keeping them.

Not really, I am just kidding.

Hahaha!! Most guys never grow up though....

Hey Amy! It's very nice to hear from you again. I will be sure to update you and everyone else on the progress of the tank. Jellyfish are amazing critters, but right now it's all about horses and pipes for me . I'd love to know how everything progresses with your tank.

Thanks also for the link. I will check them out. The horses I will be getting will be CB and already eat frozen foods, but the pipes may need to be weaned from live foods, and this looks like a perfect option.

Thanks again,
Kayla

I found a site that sells cured live rock just for nanos!!! It's smaller like softball size pieces. I'm not a very aggressive person so the idea of taking a hammer to a piece of rock to make it fit in a tiny tank doesn't appeal to me

http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch..._Code=Liverock

Kayla, I can't wait to get started. I just hope I'm able to find one of these tanks. I'm getting worried. Also, being that I have WAY more knowledge now than I did when I set up the 75 gallon, I probably won't have anything in the tank other than rock, pods and macro for 3 months or so. But we'll see how fast the cycle happens and such. I told you I'm seeding the tank like crazy right?

I'm buying the black live sand, then I'm ordering a couple detrivore kits from inland aquatics http://www.inlandaquatics.com/prod/prod_detrit.html

These are the kits I used to seed my 75 for my mandarins. I'm thinking now that I put too many kits in my tank now, because despite the fact I have 2 mandarins, there are so many mysid, amphipods and copepods(as well as about 6 other different creatures that are tiny and running all over my glass that I can't identify) that my mandarins are not even making a dent in the population. In fact, my mandarins should really go on a diet!

Anyway, I will seed my tank fully before any fish, cleanup crew or corals are added. I'm also making sure my CA and all other parameters are in perfect condition for at least a month before adding anything. I got this down now, NO MORE MISTAKES!!!! At least, no big ones

Sounds like a good plan to me!! I hope to get my LR locally so I do not have to cure the tank or worry about aptasia, mantis, etc, but if that does not work out I am going to definatley use Premium Aquatics...I've ordered stuff from them before, and I have no complaints.

You know that seeding the tank would not be necessary for CB horses, but would be a wonderful idea for pipes, since most don't eat frozen to begin with. I think I am going to order a few kits myself.

Actually, I haven't actually decided what I'm putting in the tank yet. My main reason for seeding the tank is to make the rock and sand as "live" as possible to make sure the eco-system is balanced and functioning properly, but if I do decide to do pipes, I want to find captive bred if I can.

I came accross these great pics, they are of seahorses holding on to pipe fish for a ride. I can't wait!!!!

Actually, this site is great, tells you all about what kinds of stuff to put in the tank and which pipes have to be in pairs and all kinds of info, here...

I saw that link too...very cool!

Good news...according to a post I made on Seahorse.org, suncorals are 100% safe in a Seahorse tank!! Good news for me--no more pulling the coral out of the tank every three days to feed .

And the horses will probably not be quick enough to efficiently steal the food from it.

nauplii are definitely easy to hatch and raise, but you have to be careful about nutrition content - if you don't feed them immediately after hatching, they need to be gut loaded with something worthwhile (phyto, etc) otherwise it's like feeding nothing but candy and diet soda to your fish. Check out www.brineshrimpdirect.com for supplies and cysts (eggs).

Or should I say:

Or perhaps:
