Introducing animals to the aquarium
This is probably a silly question, but ....
I have seen in the liturature a couple of contradictory statements that have bugged me for a while. As my system gets closer to adding water, I thought I would get them resolved. In the liturature, I have seen the statement: 1. Never, ever add water from the shipping bag to your system. I have also seen: 2. Many type of inverts should never, ever be removed from the water. Now both of these statements make sense in the contexts they are given, but how does one get the inverts from the shipping container to the aquarium water without removing them from the water or introducing shipping water to the aquarium? Thanks!

From my knowledge only sponges do you have to put a little shipping water in your tank most invers you can, or at least I have

move them very fast. however i don't think you should have to much prob. if you get some water from the LFS tank in yours as long as the water comes from their coral tank. but as for fish the reason on not adding their water is because in their fish tanks they may add copper and other stuff to their tank that you don't want in yours.

Gotcha. Fast.
I've read that, beyond sponges, anemones (suck in too much air) and LPS (deflating them can cause tissue damage against their sharp skeleton) have problems. Thanks!

You can minimize the transfer lots of ways. When you acclimate stuff to your tank, keep changing the water in the bucket you do it in, then in theory, you're heavily diluting the bag water with your tank water, by the time you get to moving time, you've got lots of your tank water, and very little of theirs.

Okay. That makes sense. The WC philosophy applied to acclimation. Good. Thanks!
