How to do hyposalinity

Okay first I never quaranteened fish and have LEARNED MY LESSON but heres the situation:
I bought a baby regal tang and a week later it had one spot of ich my tank params are great and everyone else is doing well
I pulled him out and put him in a hospital tank I had running but its only 2.5 gallons it was going to be for seahorses so I dont want to use copper in it. therefore hyposalinity i think is my best choice
please help me figure out steps to take to get to that point thanks for your help

are there any other fish in the main display? you may have infected the main display already and I'm not even sure if a 2.5 gallon tank for the little hippo won't actually make things worse (moved from dealer tank, to lfs, to your main display and now to this small thing).

unfortunately ich is sometimes a constant battle and there may not be a clear victory (unless one is really diligent with qt and a willingness to leave the tank fishless for some time).

is there anything in the main display that might have caused the hippo to develop ich? if so - even after treating it in qt - if the situation isn't resolved in the main display, it may again develop ich when reintroduced to the main display.

I'm sorry if that's not more helpful. I sympathize with your dilemma. Good luck with the hippo. I've read adding garlic to the food may help as well...however I am not experienced in *successfully* combatting ich.

Because the other fish are doing great does not eliminate them as sources of ich.

Make sure with your copper treatment you purchase the test kit by the same maker as the copper treatment. As the window for effective treatement with copper is pretty narrow (to little, does not work, to much, fish die)
